Announcement of Practice Closure and Retirement of Dr. Amy Brooks

With careful reflection and thoughtful consideration towards age and health, the office of Dr. Amy Brooks will be closing May 30, 2026. We will not be scheduling NEW patients after March 10, 2026 and any procedures after April 9th. It has been a great pleasure serving this community nearly 25 years. A special thanks is extended to my current outstanding dedicated employees and previous ones, all the steadfast business associates, the kindhearted dentists, patients, and physicians who have supported the office. Dr. Amy Brooks

Dr. Brooks is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Dental School in Chapel Hill receiving a DDS. She is a graduate of the Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans receiving a MD. She completed residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center.

Dr. Brooks is a recipient of the American Society of Dentistry for Children Award and the Dwight C. Clark Memorial Award. She also received a Sigma Xi research award and was an active tutor and teaching assistant in medical histology and dental biochemistry.

Dr. Brooks holds a dental license with anesthesia permit as well as a medical license in North Carolina. She maintains privileges at Grace Hospital - UNC Health Blue Ridge Morganton and membership in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Western Piedmont Dental Society, North Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Brooks is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

In 2005, Dr. Brooks, DDS, MD, completed accreditation for Diplomate status of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Board certification signifies Dr. Brooks has reached the highest standard of training and expertise.

Dr. Brooks recently completed the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) 2013 Recertification Examination ensuring that Dr. Brooks remains compliant with certification regulations through 2025.

The Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery recently published an article by Dr. Amy Brooks. Delayed Complications of Tooth Extraction in Patients Taking Warfarin, Antibiotics, and Other Medicines appeared in the April issue. April 2011, 69:pgs 977-979.
