Dr. Amy Brooks

Oral surgery is a recognized specialty
of dentistry. Oral surgeons complete accredited advanced
oral and maxillofacial surgery education programs and hold
licenses in dentistry and/or medicine in the state where
practiced.
Dr. Brooks is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Dental School in Chapel Hill receiving a DDS. She is a graduate of the Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans receiving a MD. She completed residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center.
Dr. Brooks is a recipient of the American Society of Dentistry for Children Award and the Dwight C. Clark Memorial Award. She also received a Sigma Xi research award and was an active tutor and teaching assistant in medical histology and dental biochemistry.
Dr. Brooks holds a dental license with anesthesia permit as well as a medical license in North Carolina. She maintains privileges at Grace Hospital and membership in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Western Piedmont Dental Society and American Medical Association.
In 2005, Dr. Brooks, DDS, MD, completed certification for Diplomate status of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery sets the standards for the confluence of education, training and experience for the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and assures the public of an acceptable level of attainment by those who are Board Certified. Certification requires verbal and written examinations as well as fielding questions from a team of eight examiners. |
